Fibre Fuel
Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Slough Heat & Power Limited.
In the early 1990s, two
important market drivers became apparent to Slough Heat and Power: the
increasing need to source energy from renewable resources and the need
to divert large quantities of material from landfill to more productive
uses.
Fibre Fuel Limited commenced
operations in 1995. The Fibre Fuel Limited facility for processing
non-recyclable paper and cardboard into fuel cubes is located directly
adjacent to Slough Heat and Power’s energy centre. Fibre Fuel has a long
term contract to provide fuel to the energy centre, where it replaces
coal. A waste material is thus turned into a renewable fuel to generate
electricity, hot water and steam for local businesses on the Slough
Trading Estate and electricity for local residents.
